Dr. Kent Burk is the director of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at his alma mater, the University of Missouri-School of Medicine in Kansas City.  Dr. Burk completed his specialty training in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Texas–Southwestern, Parkland Memorial Hospital.  He spent the next 23 years in private practice with the last 5 being dedicated to female pelvic reconstruction.  Following his board certification in FPMRS, Dr. Burk accepted his current position in order to take an active role in teaching surgical skills and pelvic reconstruction to future generations of gynecologic surgeons.  Dr. Burk feels strongly that pelvic reconstructive surgeons should be experts in vaginal, laparoscopic, and robotic approaches to pelvic reconstruction in order to best serve individual patient needs.
