session1104_0 - Surgical Round Robin: Apical Prolapse How to Handle It? Hysteropexy vs. Supracervical Hysterectomy/ Cervicopexy vs. Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy /ASC vs. Vaginal Hysterectomy/ASC

Oct 11, 2018 1:30pm ‐ Oct 11, 2018 2:15pm

Description

Come cheer on your favorite team when surgical experts from across our field meet to compete for the title of best uterine/apical mesh suspension technique. While use of the anterior longitudinal ligament has become widely popular for uterine and apical suspension, there is hot debate over the “best” method of performing these procedures as well as the risks and benefits of mesh-augmentation. Our experts will meet in a round robin competition to present the benefits of their specific surgical technique.  The victors of the first round will then present further evidence in round two, in order to determine a final champion. Audience participation will be used throughout the competition and to determine the ultimate champion.  May the best team win!

Learning Objectives:

  • Consider different bases for preserving the uterus when pursuing apical repair
  • Discuss risks and benefits of different surgical routes for sacrocolpopexy
  • Discuss the evidence supporting TLH/ASC
  • Employ surgical different techniques for sacral and vagina mesh fixation with sacrocolpopexy
  • Determine optimal patient selection for different surgical routes of sacrocolpopexy
